The Jefferson Matters: Main Street board announced earlier this week that Peg Raney had been hired as program director. She will assume the post the week of May 5.
“We are thrilled to have Peg join our Main Street team,” Jefferson Matters president Jamie Daubendiek said. “Her extensive involvement in community-wide events will be very valuable in helping our Main Street program continue to move to the next level. We have a lot of great things going right now and are excited to get Peg into the program director role.”
As program director, Raney will coordinate a robust roster of volunteers as they work within Main Street’s Four Point Approach ® centering on design, business improvement, promotion and organization. Main Street is funded by the Iowa Economic Development Authority to assist towns in restoring and maintaining historic downtown districts, with an emphasis on historic preservation.
Raney is a former executive director of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and is a retired school teacher. She has been part of the Jefferson Matters’ Tower View Team that has worked to place public art around the courthouse square. She has chaired the Relay for Life of Greene County for the past several years, and is a member of the Bell Tower Community Foundation and Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation.
